Project 1: Nefab Packaging OÜ Supply Security Investments
Nefab Estonia has received support from the European Union's NextGenerationEU recovery fund to establish a solar power plant. The total value of the grant for this project that Nefab received from the NextGenerationEU fund was 46,000 euros.
The goal of this project is to both increase the Nefab's supply security and to ultimately reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. With this solar power plant, we aim to reduce our own consumption of fossil fuels and the amount of electricity consumed from the power grid.
Andres Tamm, Plant Manager of the Nefab Estonia site says: ‘This project is an important step in improving our supply security and achieving our overall strategic goal to save resources in supply chains.’
Project 2: Solar Power Project at Nefab's Wuxi Factory
The second project is being implemented at Nefab China’s Wuxi factory, where they have achieved a significant milestone by successfully connecting its rooftop solar power project to the grid. This marks the factory's transition to using green energy, underscoring our commitment to saving resources.
The solar power generated is used for the factory's operations, with excess electricity fed back into the grid. This installation is a pivotal step in reducing the factory's reliance on traditional energy sources and minimizing its carbon footprint. Over the next 25 years, the project is expected to reduce the factory's energy costs and contribute to environmental conservation by saving 8,496.4 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 16,260.05 tons.
Yang Hong, Operations Deputy GM of China East, says: "The successful implementation of our rooftop solar power project not only demonstrates our commitment to sustainable practices but also highlights our dedication to reducing Scope 2 carbon emissions and advancing towards Nefab's 2030 strategy."
Project 3: Savings Resources at Nefab's Plants in India
The third project was initiated in 2022 with the increased capacity of solar plants in three different locations in India. These locations have also introduced battery-powered forklifts and replaced customer delivery trucks with CNG fueled vehicles. In addition, these plants have taken measures to reduce overall energy consumption such as introducing an idle time automation system and switching to CFL lights, resulting in 228 tons of CO2 savings in 2023.
Ravikant Singh, Assistant General Manager, shares that: “These CO2 savings will contribute to decrease our Scope 2 (Electricity) and to reach our 10Mtons target. We recognize that it is important to conserve resources in many ways. The positive impact our advocacy and the actions that come with it will have in the community. Whether it is small or large, it will go a long way.”

Through these efforts, Nefab continues to move towards our goal to internally reduce CO2 emissions in alignment with the Paris agreement.
