Many electrical components, including computer chips, electronic assemblies and circuit boards, can be damaged beyond repair by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Nefab has ESD experts and a complete range of shielding, conductive, insulating and dissipative products to design solutions that offer the required protection for use either inside or outside an electrostatic protected area (EPA).
Why do you need ESD Protective Packaging
ESD – ElectroStatic Discharge is a spark, a micro-lightning bolt which passes from one charged conductive surface to another conductive surface. This incredible rapid transfer of what had heretofore been a static (unmoving) charge can cause fires, explosions, EMI, RF, heat, light and even sound waves. It is this unseen, unfelt, unheard micro lightning spark that must be controlled.
ESD Inner Packaging Solutions
To fully ensure that you have adequate performance against ESD you need a ESD Control Program, and ESD Protected Area (EPA) and ESD Protective Packaging. ESD Protective Packaging is a major step in an ESD Control Program and should, depending on the application, feature the following functions; Prevention of charge generation, Shielding against ESD and electrostatic fields, Mechanical protection, and Corrosion protection. It is important that ESD requirement for a specific product is known and followed in order to protects it against ESD discharge.
